Ask HN: I bought a laptop with a glossy screen and now I'm regretting it

I have a Lenovo laptop with 14'' screen. Amazing laptop, amazing quality etc. However, it has a glossy screen and it really sucks when I am in a well-lit environment. What could I do?

sell it asap on ebay, take the loss, and don't make that mistake again.

Steve Jobs, when presenting a new range of Mac laptops once gushed something like... "and you should see what we've done with the screen.... amazing retina display... astounding resolution.... and it's glossy". Biggest turn-off right there at the end.

When I'm using it on my lap on a plane or coach, the last thing I want to see is my shirt and tie. Of course, Jobs' trademark St Croix turtleneck was black, so he probably never realised it.

set anti-glare on it, cheaper & cheaper as time goes
some 400 grit sandpaper will probably do the job ;)

(please don't do this)
