I admit that I might be a special case but I’m insanely annoyed by advertising and I dislike any tailored tracking like crazy. All it ever gave me was links to buy something I already bought for weeks afterwards. I’d much prefer it if everyone who sells stuff online would just spend that budget on making their product catalogs easier to search and discover products I’m looking for.

This is a really good idea.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any reason for sellers to do that. I recently tried searching Zappos for something, and the experience was awful. Hasn't hurt Amazon revenue!

Wow that's it? All the privacy invasion caused by personalized ads is only worth that much? More reason to ban it completely

Is there any data on why/how the revenue has dropped?

Is this because people are seeing less relevant ads or is this the price of data sold to other companies?

15% to 20% drop doesn't sound so good. What would it take to get it to 100% drop?
