Ask HN: Is it the right time to ditch AI/ML for something else?
So far, I have gained experience in AI/ML (especially computer vision) by reading papers, and deploying toy models. I can comfortably work with tech, read through paper, but I lack rigor in mathematics. However, I am currently pursuing Masters and I have the opportunity to develop mathematical foundation for it. I come from engineering background and the mathematics in science is just bonkers and rigorous.
With big tech progressing like crazy and new models requiring data center to train, is it the right time to ditch AI? I want to be hireable after my Masters. Since, I am non-EU in EU, it just seems so unreal. Any suggestions here?
