Sure, complexity can introduce bugs and the woke crowd removed at least 3 linux developers that actually had tries of government players to introduce backdoors uncovered.
But overall these systems will be safer than an OS ran by Google, Microsoft or Apple. It depends on what you think is a threat, but you should expect US spies to have access on data collected by those companies.
