"Unwin’s and Eberstadt’s research provides strong rational justification for the inference that God’s moral laws pertaining to our sexuality, although they may restrain us from some immediate pleasure, protect us from enormous long-term suffering while maximizing our long term flourishing."
I came to a similar conclusion. I went from thinking sex was no different than a sport to a more "conservative" view of it now. And I also think it can be applied to more than sex. Our societies would be better with less hedonism, I'm sure of that. The constant need for shots of dopamine are very, very detrimental to individuals and hence to society.
We live in states that aren't exactly homogenous and yet, I still see the reasoning as being somewhat sound given that societies are usually bound and directed by a smaller proportion of the population than the general entropy would lead one to believe. That inner critical mass, if compromised, could indeed result in a weaker ability of that society to recover and survive against external forces. In more laymen's terms, when the clergy start tickling the youth inappropriately, the entire church is doomed.
It is funny how we created a mess with sexual liberty in the past century, and now we're trying to fix without giving up the debauchery. Sexual Morality reduces the problem of fatherless homes, rape, incest, sexual harassment, etc. Yet, people want to solve these problems with less sexual morality, not more. I hear people talk about consent. Yes, consent is important, no question about it! But hey, Sexual Morality is a better and bigger shield if consent is not combined with Sexual Morality, you have an empty effort that solves only a small piece of these problems.

The individual isn’t the unit of society, the family is. A lack of sexual morality is death to the family.
