I find it curious that a comment near the top of the chain said "Brave is really not solving any problem.".
Brave is pretty transparent that they think the money going to Google (as a 3rd party) is a problem, and they think it should be split between the user and the web browser team. Makes sense to me, people creating the value can claim the revenue. I agree that me not getting paid is a problem.
Although this is annoying in the sense that they did this secretly and feels fishy, is this fundamentally worse than what google is doing ? Google sell user data to external companies but people are fine with it.
I actually don't think this is a huge problem, to use their referral link for a price to use their product seems not so bad.
Brave is well-know unethical crypto-enterprise, practicing totally scammer techniques, which seems twice as absurd given their fake "pro-privacy" image. For me, nothing could save their reputation anymore.
