Big if true and very surprising. I had high hopes for YC but it appears that if you know someone there with a Konami code, they can activate cheat mode on your behalf.
Perhaps you can activate access to the super secret bookface VIP club. Who knows.
Regardless, "It's not about what you know, but who you know." [0] and it applies here as well.
Why would that be in any way surprising? Perhaps it’s that I have family on the money side but I see exactly how these people operate. Is this not everyone’s fundamental understanding of how society works? It’s NEVER been about how much you know and has ALWAYS been about how you make others feel, but now it’s also about knowing things and using your knowledge to kiss ass, to put a fine point on it. I’m truly laughing at this behavior, as it only hurts in the long run.
The actual title of the article is "This MMO that promised an 'infinite open world' has become a giant fiasco." It's about the apparent failure of an MMORPG called Dream World, and nepotism at YCombinator is only mentioned as one of many allegations related to that.

Nobody noticed it with the non-editorialized title, so I resubmitted with the title tailored to the audience here, and it appears to have been somewhat more effective.

Not sure who Garrison Bellack and Zachary Kaplan are, but supporting their venture makes YC either stupid or evil. I hope it's stupid.
Dispo at least suggests that it's carelessness.
