Ask HN: Where should I look for work?

I haven't liked most places I've worked, and I think it's a values mismatch.

I value (in no particular order):

  - Interesting work
  - Sustainable work (i.e. plan 2w of work, do it w/o scope creep)
    - I love learning new things, but would rather specialize if they're unwilling to provide the time needed to do it right
    - I tire of arguments against maintenance, then confusion when stories take longer because the code base is a mess. Maintenance isn't just a developer issue. This isn't my baby, it's your asset. Take care of it or not, it'll get worse over time if you don't plan this work. I'm tired of covering for poor management and planning practices so I don't look bad
  - Momentum (do increasingly better work by putting time and effort into maintenance/training/whatever)
  - Similar to/including momentum: I want things to get better over time, rather than "phew we really sprinted to make that. well no time to clean up, more sprinting to do! make sure you clean up in the evenings/as needed"
And most companies seem to value:

  - More work (overtime, homework (self-training off hours), planning work/BA work, anything they can delegate really)
  - Blurred roles (do whatever planning the PO doesn't get to, this will vary sprint to sprint, but should increase with your role, and you should do more over time)
  - Self training (might provide a subscription if you're lucky, but no time, often no warning when new tech comes)
How can I find a company that's closer to my values?

I don't want something boring and bureaucratic... but I find companies really seem to want to be on one end of this spectrum[0], and view the middle as "leaving money on the table".
