Ledger apparently drops support for major Linux distros

20+ days ago, Ledge release a new version of their desktop app, 2.30.0.

https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360012598060-Ledger-Live-crashes-?support=true

It crashes under a large number of Linux distros. Debian Stable, for example. All Debian Stable based distros, some users of Ubuntu releases, and others, have reported the same crash.

Their official reddit support channel/user stated:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/comments/oua6u4/ledger_live_2311_crashing/h72eg9h/

And bug reports like this one go unanswered:

https://github.com/LedgerHQ/ledger-live-desktop/issues/4064?_pjax=%23repo-content-pjax-container

It would appear they have just simply dropped Linux a large part of the Linux community, perhaps by accident, and are taking the same sort of stance their user support has in the past ; downplaying issues of this sort, or ignoring them.

It's somewhat shocking how little testing their team does. Looking through a history of issues, it seems like 'break often' is perhaps not their mantra, but they're not afraid of the concept.

That wouldn't be so bad, if at least they resolved issues quickly. This is, after all, how people are transferring quite a bit of capital around. It's the sort of app you'd want more testing, more stability, than feature add on.

Anyhow, thought it was a good topic for discussion. And yes, a bit of an attempt to shame them a bit.
