Ask HN: Employer is requiring vaccine, but I have a medically documented issue

Hello,

Some may know that large corporate employers have publicly and internally announced return dates for the office, and also announced vaccine mandates for all employees.

While I would like to receive the vaccine, I am medically unable. I have had very severe allergic reactions to different vaccines and medications in the past which required hospitalization due to hives and difficulty breathing/swallowing.

How can I keep my job, work in the office (wearing a mask), and not have to receive a vaccine which is (based on previous medical history) a high risk of being dangerous to me?

Have you consulted with your HR dept to see if there is corporate policy on this?

You should be medically exempted. Also, the mandates for experimental vaccines are completely illegal on many levels. Uunfortunately they need to be challenged first before the courts can declare them illegal.

Nonsense, the vaccines were approved for emergency use on the basis of solid data showing them to be safe and effective. Subsequent data has consistently supported that determination. Stop spreading misinformation and undermining confidence in public health. What you're doing should be illegal.

Have you asked your doctor about this? If they know which component of prior vaccines you were allergic to they may be able to advise on which, if any, covid vaccine would be suitable.

Medical exemptions are the only valid exemptions. However, you are going to be at a much higher risk without a vaccine should you be infected and develop COVID, so be sure to carefully consider the balance of risk and whether it might be better to take your chances with the vaccine than the virus.
