This is not a comment on the article itself, but Magee's conversations with philosophers were the introduction (along with Russell's History) to the subject for me, and recommended to anybody interested in learning a little about it all; illuminating discussions between significant contemporary philosophers about the great figures of the past.

The conversations themselves were a print rendition of the original TV series (itself based on a radio series I think) which I guess was a precursor to the today's youtube public square interviews between the great and the good.
