Hello HN,

Which of these two platforms do you suggest for a Tech Employee to gain career opportunites and Network?

Should one optimise for Linkedin Profile or use Twitter?

How did you go about it?

FAANG only.

Technically LinkedIn is part of them since Microsoft acquired them, But if that's not what you want, aim higher than Twitter and Linkedin.

I might have to re-phrase the question. I meant which platform do you suggest for getting a lot of career opportunities. Should one optimise for Linkedin Profile or use Twitter?

I will edit the question.

Multi-prong, i.e. use multiple platforms, mediums, and strategies.

You can certainly use LI to have stupid amounts of inbound interest for jobs.

I don't know about twitter as a means, I've strayed away from the cesspool it has become. I think posting content there can help

GitHub and Slack have worked well for me. More generally, working on open source or being active in a community helps.

Most generally, the more people see your name and content, the more opportunities will happen. It's like that saying that a large part of success is being present.

I am assuming you meant joining a tech community in Slack. I will do more research on this.

Thanks.

yes, join communities. Slack was an example, others exist on discord and gitter. Forums and niche websites too.

Find things you enjoy and where the people who also do congregate.
