Interesting to see the european average, in my part of Germany it wasn't as hot as the previous years.
the average person has one ovary and one testicle...
Greece and Eastern Europe have had real scorchers, some of my colleagues there have been having miserable summers
Looks like France and Germany were largely spared this time round. I was in Paris for work in July 2019 (the previous Very Hot July); it was basically uninhabitable.
Nature not giving AF about "July" nor "Europe"
July is the english term for a part of earths orbit that points the northern parts more directly at the sun (via axial tilt), Europe is the english term for a region on earths northern half. You might as well say nature does not give AF about "Nature".
What does this even mean?

Of course a month is an arbitrary amount of time, but so is a day, a year, a minute.

This is still an interesting data point.

Its not arbitrary. Its roughly 1/12 of a full revolution.
Duh, it's a seasonal spike, averaged.
Can someone convince me this article doesn't serve global warming propaganda ?
Hm, doesn't claims usually work the other way? How is anyone supposed to prove a negative to you? Instead, you would provide evidence that this is "global warming propaganda".
On average. But then again July in France/Germany was usually cold.
The way I see it, we have 3 terrible options:

1. Geo-engineer Earth. This means removing the pollution and putting in somewhere. Call this plan A. We will have a hard time knowing if this plan is working for a generation or two.

2. Suffer thousands of heat waves, until we are ultimately forced to stop consuming and polluting Earth. Earth ultimately consumes all our pollution naturally. How many generations this takes is impossible to know. Call this plan D, for default choice.

3. Leave the polluted Earth to the apes and move out. -- Call it plan M, for Musk.

While it's difficult to envisage the situation in 100 years or so, right now the third option seems the most stupid. It's like giving up without the fight. We have this wonderful green-blue planet rich with resources and able to provide everything we need. Leaving it and looking for something better or even equally nice - I don't know how realistic this is.

What we really need is a global plan for dealing with the issues causing most damage. The "start with the 10 top polluting power plants" is a good starting point, we need more. When we act together, we can produce marvelous things quickly, as the example of COVID-19 vaccines show. I'm all in for exploring space, but it's not our way out for now.

4. Suffer the fate of so many species before us and go extinct.

I no longer believe humanity is capable of saving itself. Our hypersexual narcissism are blinders preventing us from seeing that which we don’t want to see, but need to in order to survive. The continued idiocy around Covid is proof positive for what has been suspected for a while now.
