Money quote:

> Based on the material collected and analyzed by the Committee Minority Staff, the preponderance of evidence suggests SARS-CoV-2 was accidentally released from a Wuhan Institute of Virology laboratory sometime prior to September 12, 2019. The virus, or the viral sequence that was genetically manipulated, was likely collected in a cave in Yunnan province, PRC, between 2012 and2015. Researchers at the WIV, officials within the CCP, and potentially American citizens directly engaged in efforts to obfuscate information related to the origins of the virus and to suppress public debate of a possible lab leak.

I don’t think these people have the right qualifications to make that determination. Seems unlikely.
The big question in my mind is: What now?

Close the Wuhan institute because they have proven themselves incompetent at handing dangerous substances? Convince the Chinese to improve their disaster handling procedures, in particular about releasing information quickly and clearly in the event of an accident like this instead of attempting to cover it up?

These are contradictory goals since one of the biggest things necessary to prevent cover ups is to switch to a culture of improvement vs. a culture of punishment. You want the sort of culture like the FAA and NTSB when dealing with airplane crashes: find the causes and figure out how to prevent it from happening again. Punishment of perpetrators is not done unless they were acting with malice. It's a very difficult thing to achieve because it goes against human nature.

While I totally believe the lab leak theory, it's important to note that this isn't an "official" report, but a document prepared by the Republican party -- that may color your views on it.
Does the fact that republicans say the sun is in the sky during the day color for your views on that as well?

This is about what's true not about who said it. Read it and think for yourself not blindly using politics to discredit.
