Ask HN: Building a case against hiring practices of tech companies?
I have been in the tech industry a long time.
More and more companies require potential employees which apply for a programming position to complete a code-test. Which they require to be done for free and do not offer any compensation for hours worked. They also do not offer an alternative way of judging whether the potential employees are fit for the role. I would gladly complete the code-test if I was compensated for my time and have done so in the past.
I think that there is a case here and am wondering who else has thought about this.
I have compiled a list over the years which currently includes:
Rover, REI, Automattic
