When people fight, then the alternative (not fighting) must be (or at least seems to be) worse for them. So what is it, that is so bad, that fighting (it) is worthwhile? Western societies fought these wars, too (WW2) and the outcome was clear: Equality / individual liberty and freedom, in short "left" leaning values, rather than "right", which would be dictatorship/Nazis and conservatism. Today these societies are in decline, get replaced by foreigners and they have accepted this (because of the lost world wars). This result is visible to Afghan people. They don't want or share these values. They value their own people and their own offspring more than foreigners. They are right-leaning/conservatives. They don't want their women to "invent stuff", maybe they even doubt that they can. They certainly don't want them to. They want a setup of their society to maximize the prosperity of their own people: Women as housewifes, having a lot of kids with them and women taking care of all of them, while the husband protects the family (men are on average stronger than women, which unfortunately became a topic of debate in the west). While the west abolishes itself and replaces itself, they don't want that and they also don't want that to be forced upon them. It also imposes such a great threat to their society (it's extinction, rather than it prospering), that it is worth fighting it. It is the choice between certain death and likely death. And they chose "likely death". In the face of extinction they chose "(very) likely death" and they won, which I am very happy about. I wish Afghanistan, the Taliban and it's people a successful and prosperous future!

By fighting and winning this war, Afghanistan was actually able to export a lot of people to other countries (as refugees) and keep their own country for themselves, which is (turned out to be) -only because they won the war- a double win for them. So the result "winning this war" was very attractive to them, which ofc boosted their motivation (to do so). What's the motivation for men in having women do men's stuff? Would men really fight for that?

When you rule by greasing people's palms, you rule as long as your money keeps flowing.

Did the US ever try to clean up the corruption? The keeper of the purse is in a strong position, and particularly so in a place like Afghanistan, where the American voters don't experience any positive effects of the corruption.
