Noticing a trend with more PMs/Devs becoming content creators. Wondering what's the lure?

I'm one. I was asked to do blogging and it combines well with the PM role because a lot of the PM gig is the "why" of things. If (like me) you're ageing out or an SME with historical knowledge of declining relevance, blogging is a path to retirement.

If I could stop PM and blog 2 days/week, I'd be fine. I don't need the sprint and opportunity cycle headaches.

Interesting. What type of blogging is it? Youtube or more written stuff
Written. I've done some podcasts, they're fun but really hard work. I go for the lowbrow explainer shortform stuff. Others do Longform slow thoughtful which I prefer to read but it's harder to write!
Nice one, any chance you can share a link here?
https://blog.apnic.net. the editors welcome suggestions for network savvy tech or tech/policy content. I'm staff, so I got an easier run in but stuff which makes HN sometimes gets a rerun or a request for a write up.
Thanks for sharing. Do you do any of this stuff on your own accounts? And if no, why not?
No. I have thought about this. Maybe for things I don't want to badge as work. It's interesting to put ideas out there but there is also an implied arrogance anyone would want to read. Work socialises the writing and it's purposeful so less "ego" drive driven but I'd be lying if I said blogging for work was ego free.

I'm also much more aware now about the commitment. Willing readers deserve regular content. That's effort. I've learned it pays to bank writing for the bad days when you're blocked. Building a bank takes time.

Ok cool, I'm actually thinking about starting up a community for creators. Think you would be interested in joining? Your perspective would be great to have
