Ask HN: Where to find other people to work on collaborative projects with you?

7 points by idontevengohere ↗ HN
so I'm wondering if this is something that the HN community wonders about: If you were interested in doing a project (personal or otherwise), where do you go to find others who might be interested in discussing it together? Is this something you find difficult?

Some examples I can think of:

- you're interested in working in area X, but have little experience in it (say, edtech). Are there open projects that you can join to learn more?

- you're interested in doing a niche project (say, translating the Iliad). On the internet, there might be someone who's interested, but where do you find them?

- etc

Any personal experiences welcome :) Thanks yall

Yes. These are questions that I've always needed an answer for.
I have been looking for like-minded engineers to work on an open source non-profit idea I have. It is documented here: https://loan-free-ed.neocities.org

If interested, then please ping me. My email is in my profile.

Sometime ago I came across a discord server(https://discord.gg/MzhGqQC). Going through their various channels, one stood out for me. The #hackathons channel that is meant for engineers to come together and hack on something interesting. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be much activity. If we can use that as a starting point then we could find interesting projects to work on.
