Ask HN: Toys for pets that are too smart

This may be a bit outside HN norm.

I’ve been blessed/cursed with a couple of young cats that are entirely too smart, energetic and curious for my or their good.

I’m starting to work on a automated laser pointer controlled by motors/RPi, but that’s taking time.

Are there commercially available toys that are good for bored, intelligent, energetic young felines?
