Ten years ago I bought an e-bike for $500. Sure it uses lead-acid batteries which are heavy but it works well and is still running. Costs me $80 to replace the batteries in a battery pack. What am I getting for an $1800 higher price? Double the range does not seem worth it, I can just carry some spare battery packs. I'm thinking maybe there is a solution to the climate crisis, inequality, and pollution somewhere in this price difference.
