I used to be a federal contractor in 1996 1997 and worked with Solaris and HP-UX and other Unix like operating systems.

As far as I know they still use it, Sun kept getting defense contracts but some systems have been replaced with Linux.

When I was in the Navy, the equipment I worked on was all Solaris
Makes me want to ask: Has anybody (excepting NASA, poor sods) still got running SUN (not oracle) hardware?
We had Ultra gear and even a Classic and an IPX running until 2019.
I actually saw a job the other day looking for a Solaris kernel developer, so someone must be.
A friend of mine is working with a customer that use Solaris in production.
Sort of. I work for a defense contractor, so we use an air gapped sytems. I log into gateway servers that run Solaris. Heck, until a few weeks ago, It was even on Sunrays thin clients. However, I then just ssh onto linux servers. I do occasionally support older prorgrams on solaris and other ancient unix systems. Found systems without Perl on it. And once got a bash error report that had some MIT email address.
