At its core, gaming is about competition — whether that’s against yourself or other people. It’s basically all about leveling up, trying to get a better score, finding the best loot, collecting the most badges, and surviving the longest.

Great strategy to apply to lessen the amount of abandoned communities out there.

I remember back in the day as I was building a few gaming communities, it was tedious and time consuming trying to acquire members and retain them day by day/week by week.

Although you can get trolls or even get raided by a bunch of trolls, automated moderations helps a ton with that. Stuff like word filters come in clutch!
