I worked in this department as a student worker in the early 2000s, just as this collection - and the digitation efforts - was really taking off.

It was accessible from the get-go. Really cool resource!

They also have a massive collection of acetate records.

I will love to know more about this UCSB
Everytime I see articles of these wax cylinders I always think of this video on Chris Pirillo’s old show: https://youtu.be/pnsizkVjGm8 30 second video but kind of entertaining depending on your taste in humor.
Came to post this. Poor guy was shaking like leaf.
Yeah I laugh because of the awkward situation but to his credit he just says ‘f it’ at the end - all you can do!
"Everlasting Indestructible Record from The Indestructible Record Company - Albany, N.Y., United States"

Between 1907 and 1922, it produced 1,598 titles, almost all of which have survived. The cylinders are described as "rugged" and "practically immune to splitting". - Wikipedia

Mission accomplished.

Has anyone discovered a way to download full-quality digitizations from the site instead of the default distribution-quality MP3s? I'm curious how much further I could clean up some examples with some bespoke treatment.
Googling the words DIY WAX Cylinder recording Found lots of interesting links about how to record similar cylinders for yourself as a interesting experiment.
