Since the 1970s, wages, infrastructure, and the pace of technology have all stagnated.

Not if one considers China as full of people worthy of consideration.

I remember about 2005 looking at long-term trends in US wages, population, birth rates, suicide rates, national debt, climate change, inflation, and mortality causes. I determined the future was bleak. Some will survive and make it in the long-term, no doubt. The American empire is collapsing slowly, but it doesn't necessarily have to.
