This looks super neat. I've only pair coded in Vim once, using a tmux session on a department-owned computer, but it was an absolute blast to "hand off" control so fluidly.

Curious how this handles the issue of giving two people access to the same machine without being dependent on SSH or something similar.

I have just started using it today, but it seems to work pretty good. I want to use it to edit a latex file with a college (like Overleaf). I normally use git to collaborate, but merging branches and all that can become a problem some times.

Apparently it starts a server which shares the buffer, so you are not really accessing the machine.
