I want to hope that this change will happen worldwide, but I doubt it.
It's a shame because I think of all the options presented as ways to increase quality of life this one would have the most drastic impact to the most number of people.
> Scotland is also piloting a 4 day week. Mainstream adoption is just around the corner imo
Nonsense. That is nothing but a new tax on larger enterprises (or, same thing said differently, a subsidy for local companies i.e. small and medium businesses).
Also, what is wrong with HN readers?
Appendix A shows who the participants were. Government organizations. Like we didn't know most government employees couldn't get their work done in 2 days.
I'm amazed by the incredible amount of ignorance at display on all topics but programming.

Who or what can possibly stop you?
I thought that sounded great, even though the hours have to add up to the same amount as if working all ten days.
But it turns out that they are rigidly inflexible in that you are not allowed to choose a minimum variance schedule.
You have to "bank" extra hours on the first week and "spend" them on the other. And that means you have excessively long days on the first.
p.s. there are now loads of companies offering a 4 day week: https://4dayweek.io/4-day-week-companies
