The only voices saying this in NZ are the National Party, right wingers with connections to bad parts of the mining industry. At the scale this would be done at it threatens the ocean system and all life, the noise footprint alone would be very harmful. Better to find ways of living that need less travel and are cyclic in use of rare minerals.
