Because saying and doing the opposite of what the govt(FDA/CDC) recommend is fashionable in some circles. Ivermectin and HCQ are pushed as magic cures for Covid to make antivax more palatable.
At first CDC said Covid was dangerous? No it's not dangerous at all.
Recipient of the highest civilian honor in the US with 15 million highly engaged listeners told them covid was just a cold hyped up to hurt the then POTUS politically.
The entire world doesn't run on CDC's advice. In both the cases, Indian doctors were administering HCQ/Ivermectin wherever it was necessary and they didn't find it to be a problem.
American media then politicised it weeks or months later.
I can't think of a reason for why CDC/Media is talking down these medicines which the rest of the countries administer just fine.
That may be true, we'll know when there's a controlled study. But it wasn't politicised as much when other countries were doing it.
People decided that doctors have their best interests in mind and they would do everything they can to save them.
Also the media in other countries were not running disingenuous stories calling them fish tank cleaners and horse dewormers. Looks like people have a huge distrust of American media/CDC and that's their own doing.
Probably because a lot of people are taking veterinary formulations, which you shouldn’t do because they are designed for horses! We have perfectly functioning vaccines and monoclonal antibody treatments you don’t need to get sketchy prescriptions or horse anti-parasitics!
Just go on with their lives? Are you suggesting that vaccination alone is sufficient and that normal people should ignore additional simple steps they can take to reduce their risk? Seems rather cavalier, at least for those in higher risk groups.

That is unknown because the randomized trials that have been done so far have been too small to show an effect at a p<.05 level. They have generally shown a positive effect for ivermectin though and thus the need for a big trial to settle the matter. There are a couple of big trials in progress so hopefully we will have some more clarity on this soon.
Because bloviating/posturing against the advice and knowledge of scientists who have dedicated their lives to studying diseases is part of the anti-education playbook that the loudest and under-educated of the populace have hitched their wagon to.

This already happend in a lot of countries and has lead (together with Dr. Google) to an undermining of medical profession. I'm not saying that the doctors are all angels but, when you rely on politicians for medical advice, you get what you paid for.
Everything has become politicized. For example some kid manning the FDA Twitter account rage tweeted something to the effect of stop taking livestock drug.
FDA who has billions of dollars in annual budget should know very well Ivermectin is an antiparasitic drug approved by FDA and manufactured for humans. The drug is so effective it came into use for veterinary uses as well.
In addition to anti parasitic properties it also happens be an effective antiviral for some viruses. And recent studies in vitro have demonstrated its effectiveness.

The politics made this is lightning rod in modern medicine and split the camps into two. The NIH CDC and other politically charged agencies can set aside their tribal attitudes and commence a clinical study and let science demonstrate what’s effective and what’s not.
The NIH has already commenced a large clinical study of ivermectin (and other drugs) to see if it's effective. Despite politics the bureaucracy is still functioning.
The pills used for human use and the pills used for livestock are, in fact, different. Both contain ivermectin, but in not just different dosages, but with different active ingredients other than ivermectin designed to help deliver the drug in exact way required.
So, yes, please stop taking veterinary supplies as precautionary medication
Do you know what else stops viruses from replicating in-vitro? Bleach, alcohol, baking soda, hydrochloric acid, probably even concentrated sugar and salt solutions. In-vitro results don't really prove anything. Is there a double blind study that proves effectiveness In Vivo?
I wouldn't call it proof, but there is at least one small double blind study that showed statistically significant effectiveness in vivo. So it's certainly worth further research.

Source on that? All I can find is a spike in calls, often framed by the headline as a large percentage increase in total ivermectin related calls, but the actual numbers of poisonings are trivial. As in 5 per year increasing to 16 or 17 being reported breathlessly as "245% increase in ivermectin related calls..." blah blah blah. It's statistically irrelevant. Even if it all happened in a single day it hardly seems like a busy afternoon for poison hotline agents.
