Ask HN: Why are WhatsApp calls interrupted by cellular calls?

My VOIP calls on whatsapp, messenger, telegram... are always automatically placed on hold whenever I or the other party gets an incoming cellular call. It is annoying.

A mobile call wouldn't be automatically placed on hold because of a new call. So, why does this happen with VOIP calls?
