Ask HN: What are good sites to post proposals for small software projects?
Small jobs, for example a stub project that scrapes a list of sites for readable content. Or a shell iphone application that draws financial graphs. Random developer stuff that could be typically done by a solo developer.
Or can anyone speak to their experience hiring from:
Upwork
Gun.io
Fiverr
Coding ninjas

[ 2.2 ms ] story [ 28.2 ms ] threadI just launched my startup a few days ago that's exactly this. It's a job board for small software projects. It's also integrated with Stripe, so you can pay freelancers directly through the site.
Please let me know what you think.
I'm currently only beta testing in the US, but eventually I'll open it up.
Actually I’d like to find something that is even more developer-to-developer centric with a tendency to post jobs that are defined through programmatic interfaces or placeholder projects that when complete, the sponsor would take over and finish. I realize you could do this through your site but there is a critical mass piece where people expect this kind of thing because there are examples or templates.
Having templates is also a good idea. I didn't add that because I felt I didn't need it for the MVP, but maybe I'm wrong. I'm also a solo founder, so generating a large number of templates is quite challenging. Something to think about though.
Thanks for the feedback.
What I mean is that I would typically want to specify the project through more of a ‘Build it to this interface’ style, and I would like to know that the type of people who are on the site are okay working to this style.
Then I would be both a project supplier and a code supplier depending at different times. More of a marketplace for developers to cooperate. Does that make sense?
So my request is not so much about features for you to build for the site as it is about web copy and outreach to your user base to set expectations.
