The Constitution of the United States guarantees a civilian controlled military. If the Commander in Chief is in office, then he is the last link on the chain. It's not up to unelected officials to determine what is a good call or not. This is scary.

So long as the left is in power, they're going to let China take back Taiwan. And then who knows what China will be emboldened to do.

The US government is hopelessly compromised and I am so sad to see this happening to my country at such a young age. I hope the pendulum swings back the other way, fast and hard.

It makes no sense, the left wants environmentalism but they also are Chinese sycophants and China is one of the biggest polluters. They make up "human rights" such as the Right to Not Be Offended and The Right to Kill Unborn Humans yet at the same time support terrorist barbarian groups in the Middle East such as the Taliban who murder Americans and abuse women and children openly.

Someone challenge me with countervailing facts. I would love to be wrong.

Social movements, regardless of ideology, have always been very susceptible to being influenced by outside forces. For governments, it's a very good return on investment to get a few leaders into the "grassroots" movements in other countries.
I see no error. We're going into an incredibly dangerous situation, and it's just considered gauche to realize that, because much of the population has been trained that it's "misinformation" unless it comes from stenographers for the left. The one ray of hope I see is that if we manage to repulse this communist takeover, we may be inoculated against it for at least another few generations.
I agree. This is quite grim. And I do think that we will repulse the takeover. The Constitution is more durable than most will give it credit for.

But as you say, the result will only be temporary. But that's the nature of freedom isn't it? It must be constantly fought for. We grew complacent with our Starbucks and televised competitive sporting events, blockbuster movies and a feelings-based economy.

I believe the long term strategy would be to get to the root of the problem: insanity, irrationality and cowardice. If we can bring our children up to be rational, compassionate and logical, and to create a failsafe system to correct irrationality we will go a LOT further and this world would be a better place!

I feel a strong sense of binary bias from this post.
