Yes it’s amazing. Congress people before the cameras are on, they mill about freely maskless and then when the lights come on, the masks go up.
It’s such a disingenuous show.
And you’re getting downvoted for saying what you see. It’s like, yeah but but… but what? They’re vaccinated, I get it. But don’t put on a show… for what?
She's behind a table with her drinks, this is hardly breaking SF health order, do I need to put my mask on after every sip? Not a great look, but this is just silly.
This is pretty standard from what I’ve seen: You wear the mask when you’re walking around the restaurant or before you start eating/drinking, but you don’t mask up between sips/bites.
> She's behind a table with her drinks, this is hardly breaking SF health order,
That seems like a deliberate mis characterization. From the article,
"Breed was dancing behind a table full of drinks, but was not actively drinking or eating, or wearing a face covering while singing, dancing, and posing for photos."
> Are you the mayor and instituting executive orders requiring masks indoors for the whole city?
No but I am okay with her executive order, I live in the city and mask up, I don't like that I have to wear a mask, but I wear it when I need to. In her situation, I don't think she is breaking any rules/laws about wearing a mask. She's only around the people that are in her party
> Unmasked, singing, and dancing with an equally unmasked crowd, cell phone video shows Mayor London Breed inside a club in the Tenderloin on Wednesday night.
> This sort of 'gotcha' culture is frankly more destructive than the some supposed 'cancel' culture.
gotcha? This isn't jaywalking, she unilaterally decided to implement a citywide mask mandate as Mayor via executive order and she goes out partying and singing without one. Do you think that is setting a good example and building trust in civic institutions?
It's possible to have more than one issue in the world at a time. Cancel culture is destructive and toxic. Gotcha culture can also be destructive and toxic at the same time.
I wish that anyone caught breaking a law that they voted for, signed, or otherwise contributed to passing in an official capacity, would get 10x the punishment that everyone else would get for breaking it.
This is ridiculous. Despite watching both videos on the linked page I can't actually find the footage of her but presumably she was drinking something before it was shot. I don't think anyone expects you to redon a mask in between sips.
In the graphic the diner is depicted as being finished with their meal. The text of the tweet is perhaps bad PR because the author is assuming the public will use common sense.
The text of the tweet literally says "Don't forget to keep your mask on in between bites." How exactly are you saying that "between bites" should be interpreted?
I said the text of the tweet was bad PR. The graphic does not appear to have been designed to support that statement, however. Can you find any other public health guidance aside from this single tweet which supports the idea that you should don and doff a mask dozens of times during a meal?
> Despite watching both videos on the linked page I can't actually find the footage of her but presumably she was drinking something before it was shot.
She is the one singing and dancing in the back center left of the video... Its kind of entirely centered on her...
(a) the legal cornerstone of a rule-of-law society is that (1) laws are the only rule enforceable by the government, and (2) those who make the laws are also subject to those laws
(b) because of COVID restrictions, those in power have effectively a lot more power than normal to dictate what people can and can't do
(c) lately, a lot of reports have come out about rule/law-makers not being subject to those laws. Another example is how congress men and women, as well as their staff, are not subject to the recent US vaccine mandate.
Together, these developments signal that the US's rule-of-law status is not what it ought to be.
The consequences are beyond just "optics". Either they're putting the lives of everyone around them in danger, or they're unnecessarily and unjustly imposing mandates on others under the false pretense that it's necessary to protect the lives of everyone around them.
A little different. They were hypocrite's and were not following the advice they were giving to the public. London Breed, is not following the mandate she has unilaterally imposed on SF as mayor.
FBI is on her ass too. It is only a matter of time before she joins her boyfriend and brother in prison. She already had to shell out $20k in ethics violation last month.

Here is a video from the club of her dancing and singing https://twitter.com/SFMarMendoza/status/1438604391297126452

Did you even watch it? She is singing, dancing and no not sitting down.
"The mayor of San Francisco was maskless at a club? I guess everything I thought I knew about masks was a lie!"
Let the voters of SF worry about it, it doesn't mean anything to me.

By what metric? Despite having a vaccine now, the US is currently averaging ~150k new cases per day, as opposed to ~45k when that tweet was posted.
