The Fallacy of Quantifying the New (hashbo.posterous.com)

I'd like to provoke a little discussion over the whole idea of being able to spot innovation by asking a set of questions. That it is a fallacy to attempt to describe the new in terms of the old. I'd love to hear other people's ideas and will happily amend the article with what I learn from the discussion.
