Yikes. Imagine being the drone operator. You probably develop a certain mental wall against the people you're targeting and it's possible you can rationalize "just following orders", but you'd have to try pretty hard to avoid the news these days with the pictures of the little kids that were blown up in that strike. It's literally heartbreaking to look at their photos. Equally horrible is that it seems like there's no rush to find any accountability at any level for what happened here.

It goes a step further, with the CENTCOM Commander saying that DoD "stands by the intelligence", which is just such an absolutely insane thing to say given what we know now and what the NYT reported. The "Over The Horizon" "strategy" appears to be a political one that is trying to be sold to us. Suppose that Russia droned 10 civilians to death in Syria. What would the US and its media be calling for? I think we all know. It's some kind of trap where these flag officers won't (or can't) resign because that would be an admission of deep failure that stretches across 20 years of toiling in that country. Seems like a political calculation this administration deems too costly right now.

Democratic White Houses are usually hands-on with approving strikes (civilians in the White House do the final analysis and approval), so this strike that killed children goes all the way up to Biden.
The MSM has been propping up Biden since January, so we'll see what the actual approval chain was, but it's your fault.
For the record, starting around Sept. 1, 2021, cnn.com stopped covering up every issue for Biden, and is roughly 80% in sync with fox.com (likely to get better ratings, which fell off a cliff.) Their news reporting had nothing in common before Sept. Today cnn has articles on the border crisis, but there's still no search match for "cognitive decline."
(Everybody in Washington is trying to think of how to retire Biden without the choice being Kamala Harris, who has been labelled a light-weight.)
