My employers tactic is to have 9 to 5 meetings and force everyone into mobbing on stories. It's the most annoying place ever.
Are there any stories or studies showing how solutions like these actually help?
optimizing for apm and optimizing for productivity are not remotely the same thing. this reminds me of the culture around parsing in mmos except without a discrete value like dps that is actually somewhat meaningful.

honestly the best thing you could do to increase this kind of canned 'productivity' is to give employees the tools to track their own private metrics and hire obsessive no-lifers who like making the numbers go up.

We need legislation to shut this industry down.
Is this a hubstaff sponsored content piece? it sure reads like it.
It's more important than ever to actually have valuable skills, so you can switch jobs when your employer turns out to be a psycho.
