It's not tying conservatives in knots, only those trying to deny that their are two sexes, male and female. That there are two types of adult humans, men and women. That women and not men menstruate, get pregnant, and give birth.

So, women and boys. In my N~1000 sampling, "boys" is a better characterisation of mental and emotional maturity than "men", irrespective of age. Don't need the latter term.
