With different Hardware combinations you could do this on other operating systems too, even windows. I recorded the entirety of weekend at Bernie's 2 from Amazon when they had it using Nvidia Shadowplay.
Netflix serves higher resolution video if the device can protect the video path from screen recording. Desktop Linux can't, so the resolution is limited, but you can therefore screenshot it.
(Worth noting this also applies to Chrome on Windows, some people find the content cannot be captured but that's to do with the compositing on hardware acceleration more than DRM, if you turn hardware acceleration off in Chrome's settings you'll find the same situation as Linux.)
