The site development has continued to move forward, sometimes feeling much slower than I'd like, but still moving nonetheless and here's what's been added since Dec:
- Markdown support w/live preview added to chat messages and user bios. (Custom built parser took awhile to learn/figure out, planning a blog post on what I learned, details in the faq).
- Improved messaging and presence backend - did a major refactor of the backend "real time" messaging and presence handling, and it now supports multiple concurrent sessions/logins and cut down on large number of bugs. Still not perfect and plan to continue to improve it.
- Online Users feature that displays who else is online.
- Improved "follow" feature with dedicated pages under user profile.
- Improved User profile pages with new bio section, location, website, displayname and ability to edit all (avatar coming soon).
- Settings pages that include ability to change email, change password, delete account, and configure email notifications.
- Email notifications were just added that allow users who added an email address to be notified when they are @mentioned (chat, bio, or post), or followed.
- Many improvements under the hood to UI components and elsewhere, with much more to come.
Sqwok is meant to be a place to discuss the news, current events, and other topics in _real time_ with minimal friction and effortless ease.
Let me know if you have any questions & thanks for reading!
