100,000 sketchy payday loaners and check cashers gasp to breath... Logically the USPS will have a handshake set-up process...
As they should. That said, USPS is using Visa gift cards. What a nice way to collect data and monetize it. But if no one sees that, or realizes it, it's less sketchy?
Ouch, the recipient pays a large fee. " The visa card fee is based on the gift card's value. Gift card values from $10.00 to $74.99 have a $2.95 fee. Gift card values from $75.00 to $149.99 have a $3.95 fee. Gift card values from $150 to $249.99 have a $4.95 fee"
It's lower than the interest most people pay on their cards. And if the card gets compromised, you lose a whole lot less. (Everyone anecdotally tells me they have a 0 balance every month. I said "most" people. These cards wouldn't even exist if nobody paid interest on their regular credit billing cycles.)

Its value really depends on the person's needs. Someone who never wants their real card that impacts their real credit rating on the Internet would happily use a Visa or Mastercard gift card.

True, In card space, the fees are lower so those who need will save $$
