Ask HN: Creating a niche integration SaaS in the age of Zapier – Worth It?

I'm looking for some problems to solve that I can turn into a profitable (non-VC backed) software business (and yes, I'm approaching it as a side project). I often see a lot of people create the same sub-optimal Zapier integrations for a tool I'm using (sub-optimal because this process really requires some visual feedback for it to be effective and reliable). When I have a conversation with influencers using these workflows (self-proclaimed "automation specialists"), they often say it's a fine system and normally that would be the end of story for me. However, these people are consultants because they already know how to use tools like Zapier and are presumably maxing out their paid plans regardless. I was wondering if there is any point to build a tool that offers these integrations in a simple way requiring no workflow automation knowledge (perhaps someone has done something similar?). I'm also having issues reaching out to the clients directly, so that could also be an issue that might kill the business as the consultants (which I hoped to get in as affiliate partners) aren't going to work as my distribution channel. Would love to hear everyone's thoughts - thanks in advance!
