First off, the author doesn’t owe it to anyone to continue to develop Magisk, whether now working at Google or elsewhere, and he’s been generous with the community. This is the Key quote from the thread: (I think)

“abuse” gives companies the license to lock down their systems to prevent general purpose computing. I wish the modding community hadn’t been so lured by the “open source” label put on Android and had instead started on their own Linux based operating system.
