Ask HN: Where can I bike in Foster City?

I'm going to spend a couple months consulting at a site in Foster City, CA, USA. Should I bring my bike? Is there any point? Are there places to recreationally ride, that are more than a mile or two?

I ask because my normal recreational ride is 10 to 20 miles. I doesn't seem worthwhile to bring my bike, if the trails are a mile or two of shorefront with dog walkers and dense pedestrians.

There's excellent biking all around the peninsula, depending on what you're looking for. In general you can check the Strava heat map for popular cycling routes. Parts of the Bay Trail along the levee are currently closed for construction.

I sometimes do open water swim workouts in the Foster City lagoon and then get on my bike and ride over Crystal Springs Rd to Cañada Rd. If you go all the way to the south end of the reservoir and turn around at Pulgas Water Temple it's about 25 miles round trip, but you can cut it shorter.
