YC-backed digital publisher looking for an early backend engineer
We're a team of 5, and are looking for a backend engineer to join us.
[Who are we?]
We’re a team of 5 with diverse backgrounds (shopkick, Google, McKinsey, Microsoft, Simon & Schuster) and we’ve published our own ebooks in the past (one is making more than $100K/year). Our office is in SoMa, near South Park.
We were in the Winter 2011 batch. We're backed by some incredible VCs and angels.
[What are we looking for in a backend engineer?]
We’re looking for someone who has a team-first, “get-shit-done” attitude. Someone who is comfortable wearing multiple hats, and who enjoys learning new stuff.
We currently use Wordpress on LAMP and Ruby. We take advantage of the latest HTML5 features and publish to web, iOS, Kindle, and Android.
Here are some problems we’re working on:
>Solving the content farm problem
>Becoming the biggest ebook publisher across multiple channels (ranging from web to Kindle to iOS)
>Turning book publishing upside down by making it demand driven – predicting what people will want to buy and then publishing on those topics
>Identifying, harvesting, and monetizing the best content across the web
>Making everything really fast!
[Why should you work with us?]
Besides solving tough problems in an industry badly in need of change, you get all the early startup benefits (lots of stock, a decent salary, and health insurance).
This is an important hire for us. If you’re interested, please email kevin[at]hyperinkpress.com and we’ll respond in 24 hours. We like to move fast.
Thanks!
-The Hyperink Team
