Sorry but with the limited time children have, I would rather they spend any available time on practical material like STEM, rather than material of limited rigor pushed by activists. I have nothing against a factual historical education, but we already have social studies for that. I have no doubt these new ethnic studies classes will be used to push controversial, poorly evidenced concepts like “white privilege” and “systemic racism”. The injection of grievance studies into public education is tantamount to turning them into indoctrination centers.
But-but-but edumacation and delusional, arbitrary experiments on children solve everything! How else will they learn they're "bad people" because they don't have enough oppressed identity bingo victim points?
If the diversity, tolerance-of-everything, and perfectly safe spaces crowd really wanted kids to be more tolerant, they would use the proven eye color discrimination activity. That works. But no, they want to teach hate, entitlement, blame, and shame through pseudoscience to demonize mostly white and Asian, straight men. Racism exists against Asians and Asian-Americans, but there's "no such thing" as racism against white people or sexism against men... it's dismissed automatically as "whining" or "disproven 'reverse discrimination' claims from bitter losers and racist white supremacist."
I was bused 180 minutes per day to a terrible elementary school because of mandatory desegregation. Their motto was "Everything is made equal by punishing those with anything going for them."
