Ask HN: Startup founders who work at home with children, how do you make it?

Hello, I am working on my startup at home. I have a child who is 20 months old. He clearly doesn't understand the fact that his father is working. Besides, he is just too cute to ignore.

I wonder anyone has similar experience. How do you deal with it?

FYI, there is no cheap coworking place in my city.

Separate working spaces are the bare minimum. If you can’t go to your office, close the door, and focus without interruption then it’s not going to work.

Either you’re working or you’re watching the children, but you’re lying to yourself if you try to do both at the same time. Either build that separation in the house or get out of the house.

Create a cheap coworking space. I rented a house 15 min. Waliking distance from my home I share with 2 - 4 friends.

It is very important to have some space between family and work.

You will never regret time spent with your child. The way to deal with it is with sound priorities. Good luck.
