I have used and like both Termux ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.termux ) and UserLAnd ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=tech.ula ). A while back Termux moved to only providing updates through Fdroid. The technical reasons they provided, I assumed, would effect all similar apps. But recently, UserLAnd started getting new updates. What is UserLAnd doing differently or better that is allowing it to still work and be updated via the Play Store.

If you download FTP server (by: The Olive Tree) here on Google Play, setup the login info, etc you can access /sdcard via FTP When using FTP from the Linux environment do the following: (Ensure the FTP server is running) run the command: ftp (device ip) (port) and it'll ask you for your login info After you login you'll have full access to /sdcard."
