If a key aspect of this whistleblower’s accusation is Facebook not doing enough to fix foreign hate/misinformation outside the US, then what exactly is the expectation to get out of going through a government investigation?
Why would the gov care? If anything, wouldn’t those details make gov agencies like the FBI or CIA more interested in getting closer with Facebook?
Maybe some fringe, left-wing types infiltrated government, who consider people outside of the US human beings, worthy of protection from organized hate campaigns spread on an unaccountable US-based platform.
If you need a selfish reason, then consider the blow-back in the from of refugees from destabilized countries, global opinion of the US reaching new depths at a time of high tension, or people switching to a better platform that isn't so 'Merican.
