Even looking at the real article (https://www.self.inc/info/iphone-price-index/) I can't quite figure out their methodology... it looks like they don't take into account that the first iPhones were subsidized, and thus that the price 14 years ago was split between two parties. I think they're just comparing the end-user price then to now rather than the actual price paid to Apple to purchase the item?
On the other hand, last year I bought one of the new SEs, which in inflation-adjusted terms is like half the price of the original 2007 phone, and much more powerful.
