This is good stuff. But learn-as-you-work has always been the most successful method for me. Someone gives me a task to do, I research the available libraries, services and solutions, I come up with a plan and then I just start building it. By the time the work is done and documented I've learned a lot. No other method of inserting knowledge into my brain seems to work well because I lose interest and get distracted. Learning facts about AWS services "in isolation" is like taking a disassembled clock and trying to learn how it works by counting teeth on the cog wheels.
