Its an interesting takedown of some recent articles with over the top claims. But its a pretty standard situation - scientists themselves, but particularly journalists, will draw the broadest possible conclusions from a piece of work so as to increase the interested audience.
IMO its somewhat ironic that the article itself has a misleading clickbait-y title that led me to click through!
